Its been said that the race for the 2019-2020 NBA MVP race has come down to LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo but to me I’m giving it to Anthony Davis. I have watched Anthony Davis join a Lakers team that peaked as a four seed last season and has this year taken them to a number one seed in the Western Conference.
The greatness that is Anthony Davis is being overshadowed and overlooked by the redemption tour that LeBron is on. Giannis has captured the imagination of stat lovers and blue check boys with his often ridiculous stat lines every night.
Anthony Davis has graciously said that LeBron should be the MVP but what else is he supposed to say.
It’s not like Kyle Kuzma has elevated his game. It’s not like Danny Green has elevated his game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope might be the only one who’s actually elevated his game. But this team…This Lake Show team with two of the top five players in the world…in the world….and we know what LeBron is…LeBron has done LeBron things…But…AD has done AD things… and he’s done that in addition dot he defensive prowess where if you look at his defensive rating..off the charts…PER…off the charts…win shares…off the charts…He’s the MVP!”
It’s time to look past trying to make good on LeBron James not winning a MVP in about seven years. It’s time to not fall for the mystifying grace that Giannis Antetokounmpo can show while taking two to three dribbles from half court and getting all the way to the rim.
